SA Variety Bash update

SA Variety Bash logoAdam Internet is on its way to achieving its goal of raising at least $65,000 for Variety – The Children’s Charity, through the SA Variety Bash 2007. We’ve raised an amazing $44,000 to date with another three months to go!

Thank you to everyone who has made contributions to Car ADAM’s fundraising effort. Every little bit helps to change the lives of children in need.

The route for the SA Variety Bash was announced in early March. Leaving Mount Gambier on the 11th of August, the Variety Bash entrants this year will make their way through Robinvale, Menindee Lakes and Waikerie before finishing in Tanunda on the 18th of August.

For more information, visit the Bash website here.
The Adams Family gets spooky and kooky

Each year, the Variety Club Bash entrants are encouraged to select a theme for their team.

Adam Internet’s theme for this year’s SA Variety Bash is The Adams Family, based on The Addams Family television program (yes there two d’s in the original!). The Addams Family TV show aired between 1964 -1966 and explored the lives of a family of dark and morbid misfits. The cast of characters include dark and handsome Gomez, the shadowy Morticia, problem children Wednesday and Pugsley, the creepy Uncle Fester, giant butler Lurch, hairy Cousin Itt and the disembodied hand, Thing.

Our Adams Family spooky, kooky theme provides the perfect platform for Adam Internet to raise funds for Variety, and to entertain children on the journey. Be on the lookout for the upcoming "Adams Family Gala Dinner" hosted by Adam Internet on the 13th July 2007

Presently, Car ADAM is undergoing a number of entertaining changes. Not only will Car ADAM be getting a new coat of Adam Internet yellow paint but we’re also building a large model Addams Family house to support our theme.

Adam Internet teams up with Athletics SA

AthleticsSA logoAdam Internet is proud to announce it is now an official sponsor of Athletics SA.

Athletics SA is a sporting association based at Santos Stadium in Mile End. The association coordinates a wide variety of competitions and facilitates communication between a large number of athletics organisations in SA. A small team of permanent employees plus a large number of volunteers keep Athletics SA running smoothly throughout the year.

Recently, Athletics SA successfully managed the large Athletics part of The World Police & Fire
Games held in March 2007, receiving lots of positive feedback. Currently, they’re working to host the Athletics part of the Australasian Masters Games being held in October 2007.

Visit the Athletics SA website at www.athleticssa.org for more information.

Get training for the City to Bay

City-Bay Fun Run logoWith only four short months before the 2007 Sunday Mail City to Bay Fun Run, it’s time to start training in preparation for the big race.

The 2007 Fun Run leaves from North Terrace at 8am on the 16th of September, with runners following King William Street to South Terrace, before making their way down Anzac Highway to Colley Reserve in Glenelg. All funds from the race go to Athletics SA.

As an alternative to the 12k marathon, first time participants are encouraged to run or walk in the 6k and 3k event. All City to Bay runners are invited to attend a free of charge, 12-week pre-race training program, with sessions held every week at Santos Stadium. These meets take place on Wednesday night and begin in late June. The program offers practical and theoretical advice to all attending, ensuring that participants know how to look after their body and are properly prepared for the event.

We’re encouraging anyone with an interest in the health of South Australia to pick up their running (or walking) shoes and enter the event, by registering at www.city-bay.org.au.

This major capacity upgrade will allow us to continue our current and future growth, and gives us 20 times the current capacity of these links.

Due to the complexity of this upgrade there will be a small outage window scheduled for Sunday the 20th of May from 2:00am to 3:30am. During this specified time period Internet connectivity may be limited while the core network is upgraded.

Wide World of Finance – presented by Adam Internet on behalf of Jeffrey Potter at Goldman Sachs = JBWere

Australian Equities: Key = Issues for Portfolio Strategy following Reporting Season
  • On the whole, results = from the first half reporting season were largely in line with previous periods, coming in slightly ahead of our = expectations. The overall Earnings Per Share (EPS) forecasts for the = Industrial equities have not changed significantly for 2007 and 2008. Positive revisions were concentrated in service-based = companies exposed to the growth segments of the economy (mining, Western = Australia, financial services, employment). Costs continued to remain a key issue, particularly for manufacturing companies and the = Resources sector (Energy in particular).
  • The recent pull-back and quick recovery in equity markets here and around the world shows just = how much ‘hot money’ is floating around global financial = markets and its sensitivity to any reassessment in the pricing of risk. Identifying value in this market remains a challenge. = Diversified Resources continue to remain attractive, particularly in = light of our positive view on commodity prices and the low multiples the stocks are now trading on. Within the large-cap defensive = universe we continue to favor companies with offshore earnings given our = cautious view on the Australian Dollar and the relative expensiveness of the Australian market.
  • In Australia we continue = to expect economic growth to peak around the middle of this year before retreating to below average in the second half of 2007. Our = expectations for a flattening of the terms of trade (income injection = from rising commodity prices starts to fade), a reversal of housing equity withdrawal and regulatory changes to superannuation = (which incentives saving over spending) all suggest that consumption = growth is set to weaken. We believe these factors will ultimately prove sufficient to require interest rate reductions by late = 2007 and into 2008 to prevent the economy from falling to below average = growth for an extended period.
  • In the United States a = sharp contraction in housing activity is now hitting the US economy and = this drag will be at its most material through the first half of 2007. To date, the balance of the economy (i.e. consumer & = business spending) has not shown any material signs of being hurt by = this slump. Outside the US, the global economy appears on track for a ‘happy slowdown’, with Goldman Sachs forecasting world = real GDP slowing from 4.8% in 2006 to 4.3% this year. This outcome = rests on the view that the world has decoupled from the US as the sole engine of global growth, with increasing domestic = consumption in China and Asia expected to take over from any slow down = in the US economy.

This = article contains general advice only. In preparing this article, Goldman = Sachs JBWere did not take into account the financial situation and particular needs = (‘financial circumstances’) of any particular person. = Accordingly, before acting on any advice contained in this article, you should assess whether the advice is appropriate in light of = your own financial circumstances.
